Online Job Searching – Tips to help you find your next job.

Online Job SearchSearching for a job using the internet is definitely the way to go, and the process is a lot simpler and easier to navigate than you might believe. Just inputting a job title like Accounts Clerk, Marketing Manager or Administration Assistant into a job search engine will open up thousands of possibilities.

Online Recruitment Resources

When you start your search for a new job, ensure you use as many job boards as possible. As you probably know Job Boards like Seek and Indeed are websites that advertise tens of thousands of vacancies on behalf of employers and recruitment agencies and we use a lot of them at The Recruitment Alternative.  A huge number of job hunters now use them, and they give you access to a massive number of employment opportunities.

Whether you use a multi-sector board that covers every industry or a smaller, niche specialist board – everyone is looked after. But don’t restrict yourself. Rather than using two or three to carry out your job search, do some research and find out if there are any sites specific to the industry that you work in. Also make sure to use the extensive career advice they offer.

Let jobs come to you – Use Job Alerts and Resume Databases

A good way to find out about new job opportunities is to use the job alerts and Resume databases that these boards offer.

Job alerts are emails that drop into your email inbox and tell you when someone posts a new job you may be interested in. Resume databases, on the other hand, are a good way to get your Resume out there. Adding your Resume to an online database means that employers and Recruitment Agencies can contact you about jobs you didn’t even know about.

Traditional avenues

Obviously online is not your only option.  Recruitment agencies, newspapers and other local employment related organisations are all there to help you find a job.

It’s not just recruitment agencies that look through the Resume databases. An increasing number of employers also use these databases to search for their next new talent, which means your Resume could go straight to the HR department of a company you’ve always wanted to work for.

Whatever resources you choose to use, make sure to read the online job hunting tips around, and use the Resume writing guidance that’s available – who knows what opportunities it may open up.

Good luck!!
